I dedicate this post to all my new followers. Thank you for being here, you inspired me to write this after quite a long silence!
As expected, things are not going as planned.
I haven’t been sailing for a while now and I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Doest it mean that my One & Ocean project is dead? Not so fast!
Whenever I talk about my mission to inspire 100 million people to take action for Ocean Sustainability, people change. A spark shines in their eye, a window opens in their mind, they see how big the mission is, and they also see how critical it is.
This gives me hope and I trust that it is going to happen. Perhaps not as planned, but who cares? If you have a mission and you find a way to make it happen which is different from what you planned in the beginning, you’re anyways happy!
Only thing, for now I don’t know the HOW yet. I would bet that sailing is going to be an important part of it, we’ll see.
Let me recap the WHY of One & Ocean:
Too often I hear people complain that the Ocean’s issues, and environmental ones at large, are too big for any individual to make an impact. “It’s a task for large organisations” they say, “It’s for the governments to change our future.”
In a way that is true. These challenges are huge, because the Ocean is huge. But as a coach I know how powerful we are, how much more powerful that what we allow ourselves to believe. And I know that we have the power to change things, to restore our Ocean and our Planet to a state of dynamic equilibrium where we are still part of the whole picture.
We are powerful beings. We can take actions that will have a positive impact on the Ocean and the Planet.
Not only that. We are much more powerful than what we allow ourselves to believe. We can multiply our impact 10- 100- 1,000-fold as soon as we don’t listen to all our limiting beliefs and fears.
Imagine, a world where 100 million people take action for Ocean Sustainability, and multiply their impact 100-fold. Imagine what we can do!
Everyone will have their personal, individual way to contribute and multiply. There’s no need to give directions. I want to inspire instead. Showing examples of people doing it already. “If they are doing this, I’m able to do it as well”. But also “this is their way to have an impact, mine is…”.
I started my mission to inspire people through a series of TEDx talks on Ocean Sustainability I am organising in Cowes. I ran it since 2021, now in its 3rd year. I ask all speakers to make their talks actionable. TED’s “Ideas worth spreading is great” but not enough. I want “actions worth taking” and my speakers tell the audience their stories and offer what they have been doing for Ocean Sustainability. I want them to inspire people to action! And so far after 2 events and 8 talks uploaded, we’ve got over 350k visualisations. 350 thousands people who have been inspired to action.
Sure a far cry from 100 million. But a good starting point! More TEDx to come and more activities to multiply this impact 1,000-fold.
The One & Ocean Expedition is one of these. A guy sailing solo around the world with a fully sustainable yacht, landing in several locations around the world to highlight what the local communities, people like you and I, are doing for the Ocean. With the intent to
help them multiply their impact
inspire other people around the world to replicate what they are doing
inspire other people around the world to find their own way to help the Ocean
I would love to hear what all of this inspires in you! Let me know in the comments!
Hi there! My name is Josefina and I am from Necochea, a small city in front of the ocean in Argentina. Thank you for sharing your words and inspiring thoughts! My husband and I both love the ocean and sailing, so I will definitely show him your posts. And we would love to meet you one day if you are in the area. Keep up your amazing work!
